6 things we have achieved since starting Keto in 2016

By now you have probably heard of the Ketogenic or Keto diet. There are a lot of blogs out there about Keto with useful information about how to lose weight. We are starting this blog to try and help people who are struggling with health issues like we were before starting Keto. Things like inflammation, stress, low energy, brain fog, constipation, appetite, weight gain, insulin resistance, etc.

I am in healthcare, and my husband is a business owner with a background as a software engineer, he likes data so he likes to do research.  We will try and post things we have learned from medical studies we have come across, and health care professionals we have spoken with over the last three years along with recipes and any new information we discover to be helpful.  We both work full-time jobs and will try to post new articles at least once a month. We want to help others live longer, healthier lives without chronic inflammation. We have both lost weight, increased our energy, improved mental clarity, dramatically lowered our triglycerides, improved my allergies, and reduced our inflammation.

Inflammation is what we want to focus on because we did lose weight and had all those other benefits, but reducing inflammation played the most significant role in preventing my husband from needing surgery on his shoulder.

When we started Keto, my husband wanted to make sure we knew what we were doing so we wouldn’t hurt our health instead of helping it. He spent countless evenings after work or on weekends watching video medical conferences and reading medical studies and research articles on how to do a Keto diet. All the things he learned by doing the research are what we want to share with you. We will continue to try and stay up to date on the newest information as it comes out because we know a lot of people don’t have time to do the research, and we enjoy it.

I enjoy writing and baking, and I come from a family of excellent cooks. Recently I experimented with making a few keto recipes of my own. I will share the keto recipes that we enjoyed eating. I will also continue to try to come up with new recipes to share. I have made a ton of recipes that I have gotten off of Pinterest as well, and we will also share our favorite ones. I used to make a lot of the recipes with cheese, and they were pretty tasty, but as we were on Keto longer I realized that cheese might be a trigger for me and is known to cause inflammation, so I try not to bake with cheese as often and if I do I shred it myself. We have added more greens/plants to our Keto diet and incorporated Intermittent Fasting. Once we did that, we saw even better results. We will share all the things we do in other posts.

Doing Keto has allowed us to have more energy, and we have been more active since starting it three years ago. We go to the gym more often, go for hikes, read more, and have been able to start decluttering our lives. I have been ready to cook more and to write. Honestly, before doing Keto, all I wanted to do was go to work and come home. I didn’t even want to go to the gym or do anything extra; I didn’t have the energy. I don’t know if any of you feel that way, but if you do, we hope the information we have learned and share can help you as well.

The 6 things we have achieved since starting Keto in 2016

  1. Decreased inflammation
  2. Higher energy levels
  3. Increased Mental Clarity
  4. Weight loss and easier weight management
  5. Much lower triglycerides
  6. Improved allergies

If any of you struggle with the same issues as we did then Keto may be of interest to you. There is definitely a lot more information out there now than when we started it 3 years ago.

Remember, before starting any diet; you should always consult your physician. Not all foods are right for everyone and especially if you have a pre-existing health condition, talk with your doctor so they can decide if this lifestyle change is correct for you.  We can’t guarantee that your doctor will be as informed as others, but that’s a whole different topic for another day.

Thank you for stopping in to read our blog and we wish you the best of luck with your health and happiness. 🙂
